Night photography in the foothills of the Andes

Afternoon - You are picked up at your location to go straight to Demian's place – our photographer.

We warm up by exchanging some ideas and expectations in his garden. And then, off we go! - a 30-minute drive, in the foothills of the Andes.

Once there, we share a nice walk in the search of a special place while exchanging ideas.

We get inspired by the stunning landscape. And of course, Demian talks a bit about some technical aspects of night photography.

Once we find our spot, we set up the cameras and start with the shooting.

Trials and errors and lots of fun will result in at least one, if not many, high resolution photos.

This beautiful experience finishes with a regional meal cooked by the fire and awesome local wine, immersed in nature.

Hiking

We go into the wild, about 20 – 30 minutes away from Mendoza city.

Discover the native vegetation, meet the local birds, love the clean air, take all the sun you can…
… Breathe in the stunning landscape.

Awesome spots for a beautiful view and pictures.

A true communion with nature ❤️

Depending on the hike we may summit or not.

Nevertheless, all of our hikes imply an alluring landscape.

After the hike, we visit a lovely place at a swiss neighborhood called Colonia Suiza:

Here we discover beautiful liqueurs, rums, whiskeys, beers, smoked cheeses, cakes, and more (funny enough, locals still call it the Tea House 😉 ).

If it's cold (June – Sept), we start the hike early in the day so we get the best of Mendoza's siesta sun.

If it's summer temperatures (Dec – March), we go in the afternoon so it's not too hot (summer here may get over 100º F), plus the added bonus of a sunset!

Horseback

We go to Potrerillos and find a ranch that is literally the last house up the Andes. We have an Argentinian breakfast (mate and sopaipillas) while the horses get ready for us. Then, we do a 1.5 hours ride crossing creeks and greeting cows, horses and condors until we get to 2800 masl (=over 9.000 feet). There we stop at a spot by the creek where we enjoy a barbecue with wine. We come back a different way so we get the most out of the view (another hour and a half). Prepare your camera but first, prepare yourself for the utter connection with nature, and with your own self.
